Prof | Preparing an ExPrep Syllabus Statement
We know the start of the semester is busy, so we want to provide you with as many resources as possible. If you would like to use one of the syllabus statements below, please feel free to tweak it as appropriate for your classroom.
Syllabus Statement Example 1:
To enhance the efficiency and accuracy of grading in our classroom, all students are required to purchase and utilize the ExPrep spreadsheet grading tool. ExPrep will streamline the grading process, facilitate detailed feedback, and support effective tracking of academic progress. Instructions for accessing and setting up ExPrep will be provided in the [ExPrep course module]. Please ensure you have this tool ready by [insert date], as it will be integral to your assignments and assessments.
To learn more about ExPrep and how to receive support from the ExPrep team please review this resource.
Syllabus Statement Example 2:
As part of [insert class], you are required to purchase and utilize the ExPrep grading tool for all spreadsheet-based assignments. ExPrep streamlines the grading process and provides you with immediate and detailed feedback on assignments. To learn more about ExPrep and how to receive support from the ExPrep team please review this resource.
We also recommend that you put some sort of disclaimer on your assignments (if you don't already) that reminds students that their work needs to be their own. Ensure that the statement aligns with your university policies.
Integrity Statement Example 1:
ExPrep monitors all file submissions. If you submit someone else’s work, the software flags it as a possible integrity violation. Both parties are identified even if they are in different sections, courses, or schools. In such a case, both parties will receive a grade of zero. “Borrowing a friend’s computer” and accidently submitting your friend’s project instead of your own is not an excuse. You and your friend will both receive grades of zero. Leaving a file available for others to access, even inadvertently, can result in a zero for the project. You must both download the file individually and complete it individually. For this reason, if you use a shared computer, it is advisable to learn how to save your work to your OneDrive or other cloud sharing service.
Integrity Statement Example 2:
ExPrep monitors all file submissions. If you submit someone else’s work, the software flags it as a possible integrity violation. You must download your files individually on your own computer and complete each assignment individually. While working together is allowed in this course, that means you can help one another if you get stuck. Copying and pasting cells, completing half of the assignment each, or just sharing files is not acceptable. If your assignment is flagged by the ExPrep system, both the sender and the receiver will receive a reduction in points, whether the violation was intentional or not.
